The Harry Keeble Quartet features four Newcastle jazz heavyweights:
Harry Keeble – Tenor Saxophone, Abbie Finn – Drum Kit, Andy Champion –
Bass Guitar and Mark Williams – Electric Guitar.
The bands playing is simply ferocious to say the very least. The
saxophonist, Harry, and the drummer, Abbie, are partners who met at
Leeds College of Music, and moved to the Newcastle area in 2019. In a
short space of time, they have made huge waves on the scene and are
growing their success day by day. They joined forces with Andy and
Mark who are long-standing pillars of the Northern Jazz scene.
Saying that the music of the quartet is energetic is a serious
understatement. Together they form a modern, driving quartet that loves to feature high-octane envelope-pushing improvisation, classic tunes from many different eras of jazz, and carefully crafted original compositions.

The choice of tunes is diverse to say the least. Among them are older
compositions by Wayne Shorter and John Coltrane, through to more
modern ones by the likes of Chris Potter, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mike Stern
and many more, including Harry’s original tunes.
In 2021 the band released their debut E.P. ‘The Beacon’ which is
available on Bandcamp. Russell Corbett of Parlimentary award-winning
blog ‘Bebop Spoken Here’ had this to say about the quartet: “Harry’s
quartet is what you’d call ‘A-list’. Hand-pick a quartet, you’d be
hard-pressed to find four more accomplished musicians” and “Keeble’s
post-bop tenor playing ratcheted up the intensity bit by bit, tension
and release meticulously crafted.”
